The Baltimore Ravens and their star quarterback, Lamar Jackson, have been in a contract dispute for a long time. This has been one of the biggest stories in the NFL this off-season. With Deshaun Watson‘s record-breaking contract fresh in fans’ minds, the pressure is on for the Ravens to reach a deal with Jackson that reflects his value to the team.

Ravens and Jackson Negotiate Contract With Eyes On Watson Deal

The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson have been negotiating his contract extension. Watson’s contract, signed with the Browns last year, has become a sticking point in these negotiations. Ozzie Newsome, EVP of the Ravens, recently spoke on whether this should be seen as a trend or an outlier in regard to quarterbacks due for monster extensions.

Dan Graziano of ESPN says that even though Jackson wants more guaranteed money than the $230 million that Watson got, he doesn’t seem to be insisting that all of his deals be guaranteed. This could mean there is room to negotiate and come to an agreement without having to worry about setting a new precedent in terms of NFL quarterback contracts moving forward. This could also point toward a potential agreement between Jackson and the Ravens if they decide to move forward with negotiations quickly enough.

Other teams may see a gap between what was paid to players like Russell Wilson and Kyler Murray last year compared to Watson’s deal, which could provide further motivation for both sides when it comes time to hammer out details on any future contracts signed by top tier QBs going forward.

Jackson Contract Dispute: Ravens Could Look for Backup

As mid-July approaches, Jackson must sign his franchise tender soon or risk not playing this season. However, both sides remain far apart in their negotiations, with Jackson reportedly frustrated with the Ravens’ recent offers. It is unclear whether he will sign his tender before OTAs or training camp.

In response, Coach John Harbaugh confirmed that the team might look for a veteran backup so that they can think about all of their options at quarterback.

Free agents such as Carson Wentz, Teddy Bridgewater, and Mason Rudolph could serve as alternatives. Given these circumstances, and for the entire Ravens Flock that likes wagering, there are several promo codes available in the state. A popular choice among users is DraftKings Maryland Promo Code, a great option to place bets when the Ravens go back to action again. It will be intriguing to observe how this could impact player contracts, including Lamar’s agreement with Baltimore, and how this may affect the odds boards for the Ravens.

It’s uncertain what will happen between Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, but NFL fans await this situation’s resolution eagerly.

Hopkins Remains on the Trade Block: Multiple Teams Are Interested

DeAndre Hopkins is still available for trade, and several teams are interested in getting the All-Pro receiver. He has become one of the top targets in a very competitive NFL market since being traded from the Houston Texans to the Arizona Cardinals just two seasons ago. Even though the new Cardinals head coach has said that he wants Hopkins to be a part of their offense, Hopkins’ $19.45 million 2023 base salary and $29.99 million cap hit make it hard for the team to afford him and make trades with other teams.

Many possible suitors have been turned off by such a huge financial commitment, so real trade talks have reportedly only happened with teams like the Patriots, Bills, Chiefs, and Broncos so far. Baltimore was also said to be interested in Hopkins before signing Odell Beckham Jr.

With the Ravens signing Beckham, they are certainly out of the Hopkins sweepstakes. At this point, it is anyone’s guess where Hopkins will end up for next season, but it is exciting for football fans everywhere to know that some teams will benefit from having one of the best receivers in football on their roster for fall 2023.

Hopkins’ recent trade from the Houston Texans and the Ravens and Broncos’ exploration of upgrading their receivers by trading their own players show that having the edge over opponents on the field is crucial for securing pro contracts in the future. Perstar QB offers aspiring quarterbacks the resources and mentorship necessary to achieve success in football.

In a Nutshell

Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens are still fighting over a contract, and the fight isn’t over yet. Both sides remain adamant in their respective positions, leaving uncertainty about how this situation will play out. No matter what happens, the effects of this saga will be felt by NFL teams and players when they are negotiating their own contracts. Jackson and the Ravens must come together and find an agreement that benefits both parties, or it would be a disservice to all involved. Now is the time for both parties to reach a resolution that benefits Jackson, his team, and future NFL stars.

    1. You got that right. Went on a 2week road trip through parts of WVA. Drove through some REALLY poor towns. Tar paper shacks, etc. Love to see Lamar walk down the street telling folks he’s not happy with $250 million dollars

  1. Michael – I don’t Lamar is in any rush. From his prespective, he can wait several more weeks to see if things shake loose. Here’s the problem, the Ravens (at this point) need him a bit more now – the expectation for them to sign him is NOW through the roof. It would be viewed as a HUGE failure if they don’t. He know this and can wait and see this through…….

  2. Lamar was not going anywhere even before the signing. No team is going to pay the ridiculous contract with 2 Number 1 picks on top of it. He is stuck. In his mind, he thought teams would be blowing up his phone. Ravens have the leverage.

  3. What if the Colts trade the #4 pick for Lamar. The Ravens could end up with Richardson as QB, OBJ AND Hopkins as FA WRs, 1st/3rd round WR/CB or CB/WR, and $200M to spend on FAs the next 5 years. Losing Lamar might look a lot like winning…

    1. Exactly what I’m hoping for at this point! Even if you have to develop Richardson, what better way then with 2 top tier recivers, top 3 tight end and a solid running game!

  4. I don’t believe that either Lamar or the Ravens are going to push for a long-term deal now. What we now have is what we should have had last season: a lab experiment to see how Lamar performs without Greg Roman and with “weapons”.

The Ravens will want to see how this goes prior to committing long term, and Lamar’s ego will tell him that he can win a Super Bowl this season and then blow away Watson’s contract. He will play on the tag.

  5. I am and have been a fan of Lamar Jackson since his playings days at UofL. Now, I am disappointed in him. He is acting like a spoiled brat. First, he needs to get him a real agent. The millions he thinks he is saving by not having an agent is costing him even more than the money, it’s costing him his reputation. Even though I would love to see him play this year. It would deserve him right if he didn’t get a contract this year and had to sit out. The fact that other NFL teams aren’t looking at him should be a clue to him, that other teams are seeing him as a problem. Lamar, get smart, hire an agent. Your good, but still haven’t gotten your team to Superbowl.

    1. He seems to think he’s being clever, out smarting everybody. But one prominent, long time agent has said he’s already cost himself over 50 MILLION DOLLARS by not accepting an offer made to him back before he got infatuated with Watson’s deal. That’s money he will never recoup.

  6. The Raven can trade Lamar to the Colts then take that #4 pick and trade down for a second and maybe more. If they trade down to around the #10 pick they can take Quentin Johnson and then at 22 take Hendon Hooker and at #35 take Kelee Ringo

    1. The Colts do not have the capital to do that. Nor will they be willing to give up 2 first round draft picks. And especially give them away to Baltimore. You’ve gone mad
