Yet another Victory Monday, Flock!

It was a bit touch-and-go getting to 10 wins for the good guys, as the Ravens trailed 20-17 at the half, then continued their maddening habit of shooting themselves in the foot. Yesterday it was Tyler Linderbaum snapping the ball past Lamar Jackson backed up their own end for a safety that made a 20-20 game 22-20. Fortunately, Lamar Jackson led one of the best drives of his NFL career, setting up this go-ahead score late in the fourth.

Jackson and Flowers also converted the two-point conversion on another display of incredible athleticism by the QB.

With a FG lead to protect, the Ravens defense…does what they do in such situations. The Rams were in FG range in THREE plays. THREE! Thanks in large part to some imposter wearing a Marlon Humphrey jersey.

Marlo had a chance to completely redeem himself, as Matt Stafford threw a very ill-advised pass into the end zone, but former Raven Demarcus Robinson played DB better than Humphrey, and broke up the interception. The Rams tied the game, and to overtime we went. The Ravens went three and out in a hideous sequence, then the defense also forced an LA punt.

Enter Tylan Wallace.

And no, there was no block in the back.

Who’s got it better than us?

For now, nobody really. The Ravens are one of four teams in the NFL currently boasting 10 wins, with the other three all being in the NFC (49ers, Eagles, and Cowboys). The Miami Dolphins can join the party tonight, as they take on the Tennessee Titans (an earlier version of this article said they play the Packers. Why are there two Monday Night games this week?! I do not know but we regret the error.)

Speaking of the Ravens and 49ers, who clash on Christmas day two weeks from today, they’re both still in elite historical company.

Did someone say “Elite?”

While the Cleveland Browns don’t have 10 wins, they got their eighth of the season thanks to one Joseph Vincent Flacco, who torched the Jacksonville Jaguars for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, as the Brownies held on, 31-27. Joe did the Ravens a solid there, pushing the Jags down the AFC table at 8-5.

Good for Joe! But man, I wish it was happening for an NFC team. I’m going to be honest: the idea of Joe Flacco and that Browns defense coming to Baltimore in January has my stomach in knots already. It’s too much!

The Jags weren’t the Ravens’ only competition for the playoff bye to take a hit yesterday. In the late afternoon slot, the Buffalo Bills went to Kansas City and defeated the Chiefs 20-17, dropping KC to 8-5. The game had a somewhat controversial ending, as KC had a wild touchdown called back on an offensive offsides penalty in the final minute.

What a pass by Kelce. Shades of that play the Chargers ran against the Ravens last month…but better. Unfortunately for KC, the guy who ended up scoring was lined up egregiously offsides, and never checked with the offical to get lined up correctly (which you see all the time.)

Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid had absolute conniption fits about this call, both on the field and at the podium. I mean, the Chiefs have never won off the back of a questionable call, right? And this call wasn’t even questionable! While it’s rarely been called in previous seasons, it’s been a point of emphasis in 2023, and this was 11th offensive offsides call in the NFL this year. Maybe direct your ire at the guy who committed the foul?

We’ll leave you with this today:
